Bitcoin Cash in the Philippines: how to buy, spend and receive BCH (2026)

A practical guide to Bitcoin Cash in the Philippines: buying BCH with pesos on Coins.ph, PDAX or Paytaca P2P with GCash and Maya, spending at Paytaca merchants, remittances, cash-out, wallets and the SEC and BIR rules.

Verified

The Philippines is where Bitcoin Cash looks most like everyday money in 2026. That is mostly thanks to Paytaca, a BCH wallet and merchant network built in Tacloban, Leyte. You can buy BCH with pesos on regulated apps, trade it peer to peer with GCash, and spend it at real shops in the Visayas. This guide covers all of it, checked on 26 September 2026.

How to buy BCH with pesos

Coins.ph

Coins.ph lets you convert PHP to BCH inside the app and send it to any BCH address. You cash in pesos through GCash, 7-Eleven, Cebuana Lhuillier or M Lhuillier. Its operators are regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Buying crypto needs Level 2 verification (ID and selfie).

PDAX

PDAX’s support page, updated in November 2025, lists BCH among 73 supported cryptocurrencies.

Paytaca P2P (no middleman)

The Paytaca wallet has a built-in peer-to-peer market. Your BCH sits in a non-custodial escrow, a smart contract on the BCH chain, until the seller confirms payment. Paytaca’s public API lists the Philippine peso with payment methods including:

  • GCash and Maya
  • BDO, BPI, UnionBank, Metrobank, Landbank, RCBC, CIMB and SeaBank
  • Cash in person

How many offers you see depends on who is trading that day.

When you finish, move your BCH to a wallet you control. The network fee is usually under one US cent.

P2P safety

  • Never release BCH on a screenshot. Open your GCash, Maya or bank app and confirm the money arrived.
  • The sender’s name must match the trader’s name. A payment from a stranger’s account can be stolen money, and it can get your account frozen.
  • Stay inside the escrow and the in-app chat. Do not move the deal to Messenger or Telegram.
  • Start small with new traders.
  • Be wary of prices far above market. That is the usual bait.

How to spend BCH

  • Paytaca merchants. The Paytaca merchant map shows more than 250 merchants worldwide. Paytaca’s 2025 review lists 45 new Philippine merchants that year in Tacloban, Ormoc and Cebu, including two Petron stations in Tacloban and Evercare Pharmacy, which planned about 30 branches.
  • Paytaca card. Launched at the Cash 3.0 conference in Cebu (31 July–2 August 2026). You tap an NFC card to pay, and your BCH stays in your own wallet, with spending limits set by a smart contract.
  • Gift cards and top-ups. CoinsBee accepts BCH for gift cards and mobile load. Check that the code works in the Philippines.
  • Bills. Coins.ph offers bills payment and mobile load from your peso balance. Convert BCH to PHP in the app first.

Remittances and cashing out to pesos

With BCH, receiving money from abroad looks like this:

  1. The sender buys BCH abroad and sends it to your address. It arrives in seconds for a sub-cent network fee.
  2. You sell BCH for pesos on Coins.ph, or on Paytaca P2P for GCash, Maya or a bank transfer.
  3. From Coins.ph you can cash out by InstaPay, PESONet, bank transfer, e-wallet, or pickup at Palawan Pawnshop, Cebuana Lhuillier or M Lhuillier. Coins.ph lists fees for each channel in its help centre.

Compare the spread with the fee. The BCH network fee is almost never the cost that matters.

Wallet recommendation

Use a non-custodial wallet, where only you hold the recovery phrase. Paytaca is the obvious local choice: Android, iOS and a Chrome extension, with P2P and merchant payments built in. Electron Cash covers desktop. Compare options on our wallet chooser.

  • Write your recovery phrase on paper. Never share it.
  • A custodial app like Coins.ph is handy for cash-in and cash-out, but the company holds the keys while your coins sit there.

Crypto is legal in the Philippines and regulated. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas supervises virtual asset service providers such as Coins.ph’s operators. In May 2025 the SEC issued Memorandum Circulars No. 4 and 5, Series of 2025, the CASP Rules and Guidelines, which require crypto-asset service providers that serve Filipinos to register with the SEC, keep a local office and meet capital rules. On tax, legal commentators note that the BIR has not issued a crypto-specific regulation, so gains are generally treated under ordinary income tax rules. Keep records of every trade in pesos. This is not legal or tax advice; ask a Philippine tax professional.

Local BCH communities

  • Paytaca runs merchant onboarding, school training and hackathons. Its 2025 review reports training at 12 institutions in Tacloban, Ormoc and Cebu.
  • Cash 3.0 (Cebu, 2026) included a student hackathon, a merchant bazaar at Robinsons Galleria Cebu, and demos of apps such as Wagey (payroll) and WorkHippo (freelance escrow).
  • BitPinas covers Paytaca and local BCH news.

What BCH does not solve

BCH is volatile. If you need stable peso or dollar value for next month’s bills, keep that part in pesos or a stablecoin. BCH is good at fast, cheap payments and transfers without a bank account. Read our risks page first.
