May 2026 upgrade: loops & functions live

Bitcoin that works.

Pay anyone for under a cent. Mint a token without a smart contract. Run the Bitcoin covenants that are still only proposals on Bitcoin Core (BTC).

Learn it. Build it. Watch it run.

// Mint your first CashToken (Token Pioneers #1)
const genesis = await wallet.tokenGenesis({
  amount: 1_000_000n,
  commitment: "cafe",
  capability: "minting",
});

console.log(genesis.tokenIds[0]);

4 steps

Get started with BCH.

Take your time at each step. Nobody can reverse a payment for you, so learn your tools first.

  1. 1

    Download a Wallet

Pick an open-source, self-custody wallet. Send yourself a few cents first and learn how it works.

  2. 2

    Back up your Recovery Phrase

Your recovery phrase is your money. Write it down, store copies in more than one safe place, and never type it into a website.

  3. 3

    Get some BCH

Earn it, or buy a small amount from a reputable exchange or trader. Start small while you learn.

  4. ✓

    Ready!

Send, receive, spend, mint a token, or deploy your first contract.

Spec sheet

The numbers.

The figures behind the claims, as they stand today.

Typical fee
~$0.001
About 1 satoshi per byte. You pay for the size of the transaction, not for computation, so the fee stays flat and predictable.
Payment shows up
Seconds
Wallets see a payment right away. Double-spend proofs warn merchants if someone tries to spend the same coins twice. Blocks confirm every 10 minutes on average.
Block size
32 MB+
The limit grows with sustained demand under the adaptive algorithm (ABLA). Today's blocks use a small fraction of it.
Supply
21M
A fixed supply, secured by SHA-256 proof of work. The history is shared with Bitcoin up to the 2017 split.
Native tokens
20k+
More than 20,000 CashToken categories are minted on-chain, with no token contract involved.
Upgrades
Every May
CashTokens in 2023, adaptive blocks in 2024, more VM compute and big-number math in 2025, loops and functions in 2026.
How it works

You already understand UTXOs.

A UTXO is a coin. It has a value, a lock that says who can spend it, and a serial number. When you pay, you hand over whole coins and get change back, just like paper cash.

Bitcoin works this way too. Run a real transaction below and watch its coins get spent and minted. Then follow any coin back through history.

Straight talk

What BCH isn't (yet).

Every chain has trade-offs. Here are ours, so you can decide with the full picture.

  • Small ecosystem

A few hundred active builders and thin liquidity. Most people have never used a BCH app.

  • Not private by default

BCH is a transparent ledger. You get self-custody and censorship resistance, not anonymity.

  • 10-minute blocks

Payments show up in seconds, but wait for 6 or more blocks (about an hour) before you treat a large payment as final.

  • Less hash rate than Bitcoin Core (BTC)

BCH shares the SHA-256 algorithm with Bitcoin and has a small fraction of its hash rate.
